IPOB Members Living Abroad Should Attack Their Fellow Igbos And Leave Other Tribes Alone To Avoid Another Civil War In Nigeria - Joe Igbokwe

Those who know IPOB members Living Abroad very well should tell them to go after  their own Igbo People including myself and try  as much as possible to avoid attacking other Tribes to avoid another civil war in Nigeria. Let them don't say that I didn't tell them. When they eventually see that thing that they are looking for, they are the ones that that will run. What happened during the civil war should be an opener to them.

What We Pass Through As Igbos Living In Edo - Igbanke Explained

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Breaking the news from around the globe.

Igbo-Akiri (Igbanke) is an Igbo speaking community of IKA accent in Orhionmwon local government, Edo state. We, the people Igbanke are gradually losing our Igbo linguistic and cultural identity as a result of our forceful membership with the Binis through conquest (Biafran war). If urgent measures are not taken, our linguistic and cultural identity would sooner than later go into sudden extinction. In order to avoid the impending extermination of our race, we therefore, ask that a local government area be created that would consist of Igbo Akiri (Igbanke) and other Ika speaking communities in Edo state. Alternatively, if local government creation is not feasible or possible, Igbo Akiri (Igbanke), should therefore, be severed from Edo state and merged with Ika south local government area in Delta State.

BELOW ARE WHAT WE GO THROUGH BECAUSE WE ARE IGBO CREATED INTO EDO STATE

1)Most Igbanke indigenes who have Ika ancestral names like, “Emeka”, “Maduka”, “Chukwuka” “Chinyere”, “Amaka and Ogorchukwu” etc are often confronted with all forms of harrowing experiences when there are needs to visit our council headquarters, Abudu to process one official documents or the other. We are often denied the issuance of documents like, Certificate of Local Government of origin, Protest Letter, To Whom it May Concern, etc on the guise that we are Igbos not Binis.

2) Those who have the likes of the Ika aforementioned names, but can speak Bini language are rarely subjected to the above embarrassments and discriminations. This act goes a long way to vindicate our fear that there is a subtle, but carefully planned agenda to make us lose and abandon our ancestral linguistic and cultural heritage.

3) In order to escape from these unnecessary embarrassments, some have no other option left than to change their identity from Ika to Bini names.

4) Today, we, the good people of Igbanke are gradually losing our once envied linguistic and cultural identity.

5) Some of the eminent sons and daughters of Igbanke, whom out of their outstanding contributions to the development of the community, were recognized and given chieftaincy titles had had such titles changed from their original Ika origin to Bini equivalence. For example, few years ago, one of our sons who addressed himself as “Chief Orike-Eze” in Oba of Benin palace was shamefully harassed, insulted and forcefully forced, right in the palace to change the title to its Bini version. According to the palace, the title, “Orike-Eze” had its origin from Ika and Igbo nations.

5) Most times, when we have cause to attend meetings with the Binis in our local government area or senatorial district, deliberations are often conducted in Bini in language without considering the fact that the people of Igbanke in such meeting neither speak nor understand the language. Often than not, when we attend such meetings, we left the venue more confused than we were before we went.

6) In Edo state, Igbanke is only tolerated, not respected, seen, but not accepted. Today, in Edo state, plans are underway by the state Ministry of Education to introduce the teaching of Bini language in Primary and Secondary schools across Edo south senatorial district including Igbanke. Unfortunately, our indigenous language, Ika is not in any way considered qualified and appropriate to be taught in schools in Igbanke. To us, its another deliberate attempt to send our linguistic identity into extinction.

7) Our people have also suffered several inexplicable discriminations when it comes to political appointments. During the 2013 Edo state local government elections, one of our sons, Mr. Peter Ikem was refused to contest the chairmanship position in Orhionmwon local government area. Reason? His surname, “Ikem” was an Igbo, not Bini name

We Are No Longer Save In Benue - Igbo Residents Cries Out

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Breaking the news from around the globe.

Igbos residing in Gboko area of Benue state have cried out for help saying their lives are at risk.

File photo

The Igbo communities in various parts of Benue State, particularly in Gboko, have raised the alarm that their lives were no longer safe in the state.

Vanguard revealed that they alleged that they have become endangered in the State following spates of targeted kidnappings and murder of Igbo in the State by native gangs, suspected herdsmen and bandits.

According to prominent members of the Igbo community in Gboko led by a businessman, Chief Nnolim Okafor,“there is no week an Igbo person is not kidnapped or murdered in Benue State and we have been subjected to paying millions of naira in ransoms. We can no longer do our businesses freely for fear of being kidnapped or murdered. Since January this year, we have had over 50 Igbos kidnapped and some murdered in cold blood by bandits and suspected herdsmen.”

In a press briefing in Enugu, on Monday, Nnolim said that all efforts to get the security agencies and the Benue state government to address the matter have fallen on deaf ears. “Igbos in Benue State are being systematically decimated and our businesses are gradually being ruined by these kidnappers and bandits”, he lamented.

One of the businessmen, Mr. Ikem Ani also lamented that Igbos in Benue have been subjected to untold hardship and their lives no longer guaranteed.

According to him, “there is virtually no week that an Igbo person is not kidnapped. We have tried to engage the State Police Command to no avail. We are therefore crying out for the world to know the fate of Ndigbo in Benue State.

“We are now putting Ohanaeze Ndigbo on notice that we have become endangered in Benue State because what is happening to Igbos in Benue State is worse than what is happening to Ndigbo in the far north”, he stated.

It will be recalled that in recent times the spate of kidnaps and killings of persons of Igbo extraction in Benue State have risen to dizzying heights, prompting calls by an Igbo Youth group for the re-calibration of the security architecture in Nigeria and especially in Benue State.

In a recent press statement, the group expressed dismay with the way reports concerning security of Ndigbo in Benue State have been handled with levity and non-nonchalance by the security agencies in the State; warning that Igbos in Benue State may be forced into aggressive defence of their lives and property.

Igbos Are The Most Foolish Set Of People I Have Ever Seen In This World - Ralph Uwazuruike

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Breaking the news from around the globe.

The Founder and leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, has described the Igbo as foolish set of people.

The MASSOB founder insisted that Igbo may not become Nigeria’s president because they only fight for their pocket.

Speaking with Punch, Uwazurike recalled how Igbo was pushed aside after forming the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 1999.

He insisted that anyone calling for the unity of Nigeria does not mean well for the already troubled nation.

His words, “Remember, it was the Igbo man that formed this PDP but they snatched it from him. Then, it was clear that an Igbo man would be the President of Nigeria. But in Jos, it was the Igbo who robbed themselves of that opportunity. The Igbo at that political event in Jos started speaking Hausa.

“The Igbo started sponsoring (Olusegun) Obasanjo against (Alex) Ekwueme; giving N100 million and all that to another tribe to emerge. Let me tell you, the Igbo tribe is the most foolish tribe I have ever seen in the world.

“While the Yoruba embraced unity, the Igbo man was the person speaking Hausa in Jos; the Igbo man was the one donating money against his own brother in Jos to another candidate.

“Is that a wise tribe? Then, who should I apologise to for using the word ‘foolish?’ Then what have we achieved from the PDP? For how many years have the Yoruba people used the PDP? Eight years! Now, when it was the turn of the South-East, they sent it to South-South.”

History Can Never Be Erased, Know Your History!

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Breaking the news from around the globe.

Our people should wake up from there slumber,  a lot has gone wrong. Have this at the back of your mind that history can never ever be Erased. They have diverted our people's mentalities to what I don't really know. How on Earth can someone changed his real name just for selfish interest? Since Obasanjo and
others had brought division among us, things failed apart.

It is only an animal that you can give a name and he keep bearing it. How can someone gave you a name and you are comfortable with it? Have you ask yourself one day what this name"Niger Delta and South South"  mean? Is there anything like south south in the North or West? It's high time our people should rethink.

Just imagine, out of ignorance our people from the so called south south, Ikwere to be precised  changed their names and the names of their towns to what I don't really know where it came from.  See " "Umuobiakani" town on the inscription attached to this write up, they changed it automatically to "Rumuobiakani" and they failed to know that history can never be Erased. This inscription has been in existence since 16th of February, 1959, I wonder why people are so draft to change the name on it.

The earlier we wake up from our slumber, the better for us. It is good to know whom you are and where you came from. A fool at forty is a fool forever they said.

...Says no going back on restructuring

Magnus Eze, Enugu

President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, has said the military carefully structured the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria against Ndigbo.

Nwodo who was guest on Arise TV’s live personality interview programme noted that the constitution was based on extreme discrimination and jaundiced against his people. He noted that the Igbo by every available record should not have the least number of local government areas, states andNational Assembly seats.

“The military designed a constitution at the end of the war to contain the Igbo. We have the smallest number of local governments of all the six geopolitical zones; smallest number of representatives in the National Assembly; the smallest number of local government councils, two states in the North West of Nigeria have as much local governments as we have in the South East,” he said.

The Ohanaeze leader also said the mandate of the apex Igbo body was not to actualise a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction but to push for a restructured federation where everybody would be free to achieve its dreams; an egalitarian society where people develop at their pace.

Ndigbo, he said, had been contained by the federal authorities, through its policies and programmes, but stated that their potential; energies, creativity and industry would enable them emerge at the world stage. Nwodo also said that there was no alternative to restructuring the country even as he accused President Muhammadu Buhari of not being faithful to his manifesto.

He recalled that Buhari had promised to restructure Nigeria during the 2014 electioneering but reneged after he won the election.

“The president has not been faithful to his manifesto. After he won the election, his party set up a committee on restructuring headed by Kaduna state Governor, Nasir el-Rufai and they made this report that which was accepted by the national leadership of his party.

“And when he faced interviewed by the press, he said that our problem was not structure but process.

“He swallowed his manifesto; he swallowed the decision of his national executive committee and he says we are looking for our personal interest. It’s rather the president that is looking for his own personal interest,” Nwodo stated.

The Ohanaeze chieftain insisted that the president has failed it by not resonating the aspirations of majority of Nigerian.

He further condemned the detention of convener of #RevolutionNow protests, Omoyele Sowore, and for the umpteenth time, called for the unbanning of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

He also flayed the president for recycling some members of his cabinet, especially those that have corruption cases pending in the court as well those under the investigation of the antigraft agencies.

Reasons Why Igbos Are Ahead Of Other Tribes In Nigeria - Obasanjo Revealed

Reasons Why Igbos Are Ahead Of Other Tribes In Nigeria - Obasanjo Revealed

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Breaking news from around the globe.

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Obasanjo has revealed reasons why Igbos are ahead of other tribes in Nigeria. It will be a task impossible to actualize for the Igbos, to follow the Yoruba’s Ideology. The Igbos are more republican by nature, which is why it is very difficult for you to tame such a tribe.

From the extensive research I did on the three major tribes, I find out that the Igbos are the most westernized, most enterprising, most astute, most dynamic, most intelligent (smart), and the most technically gifted tribe found among the black race. The Hausa/Fulani and the Yorubas have limitations. But an Igbo man doesn’t see any limitations.

An average Igbo man is highly competitive, unlike the Yoruba and the Hausa/Fulani.

While the Yoruba and the Hausa/Fulani had kingdoms which enabled the British to infiltrate their territories easily, the Igbos on the other hand, had what could be called “Chiefdoms” (autonomous Communities). These structures made it very difficult to tame the Igbos.

It took the British just 9 months to tame the North and South West but almost 30 years to be able to tame the Igbos. The British had to send a team of anthropologists to the South to understudy the Igbo because, they (the British) acknowledged they hadn’t been up against a black race with such depth and intelligence coupled with the gut to confront the whites and learn from them so, so fast.

While a Tinubu, can have unrestricted influence over the Yoruba tribe, something you can only find mostly among blacks and some poor nations on earth today, an Igbo man can never be tamed by the ideology of one man unchecked, no matter how highly placed he or she is. That’s why the Igbos are very successful no matter where they find themselves. They don’t believe in putting limitations on their path. You can only find such similarities among the Europeans, the Americans, and developed Asian tiger nations.

A Hausa/Fulani man sees Kano as his world. A Yoruba man sees Lagos as his world. An Igbo man sees the world as his Village!

Some Of The Igbo Traditions Before The Arrival Of Missionaries As Connected With Bible Verses

Some Of The Igbo Traditions Before The Arrival Of Missionaries As Connected With Bible Verses

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Bringing to you Breaking news from around the globe.

1. NSO NWANYI
In Igboland a women live apart from their husbands and neither cooks for them nor enters their husband’s quarters when she is in her period, she is seen as unclean.
Even up till today such practice is still applicable in some parts of Igboland especially by the traditionalists.

Before a woman can enter the palace of Obi of Onitsha , she will be asked if she is in her period, if yes, she will be asked to stay out.

Leviticus 15: 19-20
When a woman has her monthly period, she remains unclean, anyone who touches her or anything she has sat on becomes unclean.

2. ANA OBI
An Igbo man’s ancestral heritage, called “Ana Obi” is not sellable, elders will not permit this. If this is somehow done due to the influence of the West the person is considered a fool and is ostracized by the community.

1 king 21:3
I inherited this vineyard from my ancestors, and the lord forbid that I should sell it, said Naboth.

3. IKUCHI NWANYI
Igbos have practiced the taking of a late brothers wife into marriage after she had been widowed until the white men came. Now it is rarely done but except in very rural villages.

Deuteronomy 25:5
A widow of a dead man is not to be married outside the family; it is the duty of the dead man’s brother to marry her.

4. IGBA ODIBO
In Igboland, there is a unique form of apprenticeship in which either a male family member or a community member will spend six(6) years (usually in their teens to their adulthood) working for another family. And on the seventh year, the head of the host household, who is usually the older man who brought the apprentice into his household, will establish (Igbo: idu) the apprentice
by either setting up a business for him or giving money or tools by which to make a living.

Exodus 21:2
If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve you for six years. In the seventh year he is to be set free without having to pay you anything.

5. IRI JI
In Igboland , the yam is very important as it is their staple crop. There are celebrations such as the New yam festival (Igbo: Iri Ji) which are held for the harvesting of the yam.

New Yam festival (Igbo: Iri ji) is celebrated annually to secure a good harvest of the staple crop.

Those old days it is an abomination for one to eat a new harvest before the festival. It’s a tradition that you give the gods of the land first as a Thanksgiving.Deuteronomy 16:9

Count 7 weeks from the time that you begin to harvest the crops, and celebrate the harvest festival to honor the lord your God, by bringing him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing he has given you.

Celebrate in the lord’s presence together with your children, servants, foreigners . Be sure that you obey my command, said the lord.

6. IBE UGWU
In Igboland it’s a tradition that the male children are circumcised on the 8th day. This tradition is still practiced till date.

Leviticus 12:3
On the eighth day, the child shall be circumcised.

7. OMUGWO
In Igboland, there is a practice known as “ile omugwo “. After a woman has given birth to a child, a very close and experienced relative of her, in most cases her mother is required by tradition to come spend time with her and her husband. In which she is to do all the work of the wife, while the new mom’s only assignment will be to breastfeed the new baby.

This goes on for a month or more. In the Igbo old tradition, at this time, the new mom lives apart from her husband, would not cook or enter his quarters.

Leviticus 12:1-4
For seven days after a woman gives birth, she is ritually unclean as she is during her monthly period. It will be 33 days until she is ritually clean from the loss of blood; she is not to touch anything that is holy.

Our ancestors have long practiced these tradition ever before the white man set foot on our soil with their Christianity.

Igbos residence in Kanu, was on Sunday condemned the call by Some Northern political leaders that Fulani Herders in the Southern Part of Nigeria withdraw back to Northern region.

The statement, which was alongside Ganduje, Governor of Kano state was said at a dinner in Kano that the call was “divisive and retrogressive.’’‎

This was contained in a ‎statement issued by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Abba Anwar, in Kano, the governor and Eze Ndi Igbo Kano, Igwe Boniface Igbokwe reacted at a dinner organised by the governor in honour of Igbokwe on his 10th Offalla anniversary.

Reads: “Those who are calling on the Fulani to leave South, we don’t share the same feeling with them.

“People have a choice as far as Nigerian constitution is concerned, to live wherever they chose to.

“But they must respect laws and cultures of those they are living with,’’ Ganduje said.‎

Ganduje said that Nigeria is a heterogeneous society with different religions and nationalities, adding that this calls for mutual respect among the different people.

“As we are all creatures of Allah, it is duty bound on all of us to always respect Allah’s creatures. No two way about it.” the statement noted.‎

He insisted that the issue of Fulani moving from one place to another should be stopped and the ever old style of rearing revisited.

“Herders should drop the cultural attachment to their rearing activities and make their rearing become economically beneficial.

“It is with this singular reason that I called on the Federal Government to put a halt to the ever increasing movement of herders from one state to another.

“It is because we want to bring out economic benefit out of the whole exercise that we inaugurated a RUGA Settlement Committee in Kano.

“This is fundamentally to run away from the insecurity posed by the herders/farmers clashes everywhere,” he explained.

The governor said that the major problem of herders was education because they were not settled in one place for them to get educated.

“That is why we said this issue of migrating from one society to another should be avoided and my ‎government will find a way of educating Fulani herders,’’ he added.

Ganduje reiterated his commitment towards making sure that Ruga project takes off in Kano.

‎On the accommodative nature of the state he explained that although Kano is a commercial nerve centre of Northern Nigeria, the state is not an Island.

“We reach this position because we receive and accommodate other people from other places.

“Every individual you see has his or her comparative advantage,’’ he said, and commended security agencies for their efforts in making Kano a safer place.

The Eze Ndigbo Kano, who is also the President General and Igbo Traditional Leader in Diaspora decried the call on herders in South to return to the North.

“Just look at what is happening now, some people are calling on Fulani to come back to the North.

“So if they come back what will happen to us here in the North‎. Our people will tell us to go back to South.

“Is that what our forefathers wished to see us doing; we are therefore rejecting such call coming from some quarters.

“It does not mean well for the corporate existence of our dear country,” Igbokwe lamented.

‎ Igbokwe called on Igbos to always be law abiding citizens saying that ‎“we are very happy that we are safe in Kano. ‎

Home/ Nigeria News/"Leave Northern Nigeria Now" – group warns people of South-east, South-south living in The North

The Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has called on the people of the South-east and South-south to immediately
leave the North, following calls by Northern Elders Forum, NEF, and Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG for Fulani people to leave the South.

In a statement signed and issued to DAILY POST by the Chief Press Secretary of BNYL, Comrade Kufre Obot, the group appealed to the people of South-east and South-south to return home or risk being killed after the 30th July ultimantum by CNG.

BNYL claimed that it was because of its threats to retaliate any unfortunate incident against people of the old Eastern region that prompted the call for Fulani to leave the south by the northern elders and CNG.

“We met at a closed door today after reading the statement from northern elders and their CNGs, we resolve to equally call on the Igbo, Efik-Ibibio, Ejagham, Ogoni, Uhrobo, Ijaw and other tribes from the South south to return home before the 30th ultimatum only if their life is more precious to them than their Business, they should return and at least observe if the ultimatum is a joke or not before concluding,” the statement added.

BNYL however vowed not to tolerate the killing of any Easterner in the North even as it stated that the call for Fulani to leave the south was a signal.

“It is a signal and we are ready to face it in whatever ways they want,” the group said.

We've Found Out That We're Not One And Can Never Be, Ndigbo Can No Longer Be Intimidated - Southeast Leaders Laments

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS...

Bringing to you Breaking News From around the globe.

Igbo leaders, weekend, declared that people of Southeast living across the country would continue to ply their trade and exercise their rights without fear.

This is a major fallout during a visit to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General, John Nnia Nwodo in Enugu, at the weekend.

Former Minister of Health, Professor ABC Nwosu, who briefed newsmen after the visit, said it was to congratulate Nwodo “for his enlightened, focused and selfless leadership of Ndigbo in the trying period before and during the last elections.”

The delegation, led by High Chief Senator Ben Obi, included former governors Achike Udenwa and Okwesilieze Nwodo, Senator Azu Agboti, first Chairman Niger Delta Developmetn Commision, NDDC, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu and former Ministers, Chief Dubem Onyia and Processor ABC Nwosu.

The delegation thanked the Ohanaeze President General for standing firm on the priority Igbo position for the restructuring of Nigeria based on greater devolution of power and resources from the centre to the federating units and praised the President General for ignoring saboteurs of Igbo cause because he has been vindicated by the massive Igbo votes along the direction that Ohanaeze had endorsed.

Nwosu added that “The delegation pledged their personal unflinching support and loyalty for the President General and Ohanaeze Ndigbo to ensure that this task of restructuring Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens is accomplished.

“The delegation was proud that the principled stand of Ndigbo on restructuring was galvanized by Ohanaeze Ndigbo under the very capable leadership of the President General and this resulted in the massive turnout of Ndigbo at the last general elections not only in the South East but throughout Nigeria, and vowed to assist the President General to ensure that Nigeria shall continue to feel the weight of Igbo votes until restructuring is accomplished, and those who continued to ignore Igbo votes in Nigeria do so at their risk.

“The delegation pleaded with the Prescient General to ignore the activities by a few Ndigbo to sabotage the collective Igbo view since the Igbo votes strongly endorsed his position, but frowned seriously on the sell-out of Ohanaeze Ndigbo by the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and urged that he should be strongly sanctioned.

“The Igbo leaders reiterated that the task of restructuring Nigeria into a nation that works for all its citizens and not just for only a section of its citizens, remains the top priority agenda of Ndigbo in Nigeria, and as the Igbo adage says, “the jaws do not rest until what is being chewed is finished,” the President General must ensure that this burning desire of Ndigbo for the restructuring of Nigeria continues to remain in the front burner of Nigerian politics.

“The task for Ndigbo now, according to the leaders, is to design the post general election agenda to maintain Igbo solidarity such that the Igbo post election agenda is not distracted by those lobbying for positions in government and those positioning to be President in 2023.”

He added that “the Igbo wisdom of struggling for where to sleep before fighting for the mat to sleep on should guide our post election strategy.

“The delegation was exceedingly proud of Ndigbo for how they voted at the last elections where ministers and prominent Igbo APC members found that the community is always bigger than the individual and it must be humbling for them to have lost at their polling booths.

“The icing on the cake for Ndigbo was the election of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State which clearly showed that Ndigbo are resolved to start to start redressing the wrongs of the last few years from inside Igboland.

“It was clear that Ndigb are not afraid and will not be afraid in Nigeria whether in Owerri, Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Aba, Enugu, Warri or Asaba to express their full citizenship rights and their dissatisfaction with the way they are being treated politically in Nigeria. The post election thinking of every Onye Igbo must be Igbo renaissance in a Nigeria that works.

“It is important that government must focus on restructuring and the task of nation building where all citizens of Nigeria are equal before the law and have equal opportunities to employment and other economic activities. Those who think that their can be senior and junior Nigerians must be told firmly that they are hallucinating.”

Don't Incite Violence, Support The Army - Igbo Group Tells People Of South East

Don't Incite Violence, Support The Army - Igbo Group Tells People Of South East

   MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS...

Igbos in Nigeria Movement has urged the people of the south-east states to be discerning in their choices in the general elections saying that strategies that have failed the region in the past must not be repeated again since they will yield the exact same results.
The movement, which spoke through its President, Maxi Ifeanyi Igwe in Abuja on Friday also urged Igbos to cooperate with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in ensuring that the elections are not hijacked by thugs that hide under agitation to foment trouble.
Igwe called on Igbos to disregard the call by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu for the boycott of the elections even as he noted that such demand can only be made by someone that is interested in getting the Igbos to be labelled as anti-democratic elements that did not support the entrenchment of democracy.
He stressed that “The Igbo states, being peaceful, would not have needed the Army’s nationwide Operation Python Dance had IPOB and other divisive elements not engaged in a needless sabre-rattling that created the impression that war is afoot. But this is not who we are in Igboland, we are pro-democracy any day and we will not allow history to misjudge us as a people because of a few recalcitrant renegades.
“Every other geo-political zone has been agitating for restructuring and what we have seen them doing is getting candidates across the spectrum to commit to pursuing this agenda. The people of these other geo-political zones have in essence made a strong statement that the agitation for true fiscal federalism will pick up pace once they have elected candidates that are favourably disposed to restructuring.
“The south-east cannot, in this sense, be different by trying to achieve the same objective through violence and calling for the disintegration of the country as IPOB and Kanu are doing. The region must also not make itself unnecessary enemies by being abusive of other ethnic nationals and directing hate speech against them as we have seen from Kanu since he resurfaced from hiding,” he noted.
Igbos in Nigeria Movement’s president counselled against bloc support while asking that Igbos should freely vote for candidates of their choice without feeling coerced. According to him, “Past experience has shown that Igbos are singled out for undesirable special treatment each time they vote as a bloc for a candidate, something that the other ethnic nationalities do not do. Other geo-political zones allow their people to vote for candidates of their choice, which ensures that whoever emerges the winner will not feel than an entire geo-political zone or ethnic group voted against them.
“This is why we advise those creating the false impression that the entire Igbo nation has endorsed any one particular candidate to desist from the unwholesome act as it would be unfair for them to set up the entire south-east for victimization when a wrongly endorsed candidate loses the election as happened in the past.
“We also urge our people to shun violence and other political actions that inimical to the growth and development of Nigeria. This appeal becomes necessary given the worsening instances of threats and counter threats that politicians are issuing against each other. Our people need to read between the lines and appreciate that the ancestral homes of these candidates and cities where they have huge business investments will at no time record political violence even if we allow impassioned support for the them to ignite Igboland.
“Not only must the people refrain from violence we urge our people in Igboland to support the Nigerian Army and all security agencies that have deployed to maintain the peace during the elections. The support to the army and other agencies is to ensure that thugs that have been hired to unleash violence on the political opponents of their paymasters do not succeed. The people must also be careful of the incitement from IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is now clearly acting out a script that does not accommodate the interest of the Igbos,” Igwe charged.

Igbo Youths Assembly Endorses Buhari For Second Term

MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS

Few days to this year’s Presidential election, the Igbo Youth Assembly (IYA) has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The organisation at a press conference on Friday in Abuja told newsmen that it took the decision because they have found the President to be a man of impeccable integrity without blemish.

The President General of the Assembly, Mazi Ifeanyi Nwaudunna, said the move was taken by the group after its leadership consultative meeting held in Umuahia, Abia State last Monday in the interest of political and economic development of the country.

“IYA is the foremost nationalistic and most widely spread socio-cultural and political youth movement of the South East extraction, having leadership structures in every major village in Igbo land and in the Diaspora, working for and promoting the peace, unity, indivisibility and prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Nwausdunna said.

He noted that the Igbo Assembly unanimously resolved to endorse President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election for his resourcefulness, honest and transparent leadership style.

He said, “What President Buhari has done in his first four years are unprecedented, there is not political party or individual today in Nigeria that can match him by all standards. We are happy about what is happening in our region, PMB has commissioned projects in the East, and we have seen what he has done in the past three years and half.

“It is God that brought PMB to address some age-long problems in Nigeria, which he has been able to address, improved infrastructure renewal in the transport sector, improved industrial sector through research and technology transfer, sports, entertainment and tourism.”
