We Have Paid The Ultimate Price With Our Parents - Nnamdi Kanu's Family

Family of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, said with the death of its patriarch, Eze Isaac Okwu Kanu, it had paid the supreme price for the Biafra struggle.

Afaraukwu Eze-in-council comprising the three communities in Afaraukwu in Umuahia North Local Government of Abia State had, at the weekend, formally announced the death of the traditional ruler who was believed to have died in early November.

Speaking with Daily Sun at Afaraukwu, the spokesman of the family, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, said nothing was as painful as the death of their parents, adding that it came as shock to them, but assured they were doing everything humanly possible to absorb the shock.

He said: “Nothing is as painful as what we’ve been through with regard to my parent’s death. It came to us as shock and a very big one for that matter. But we are doing everything we can humanly possible to absorb that shock.

“We fully understand that it’s what everyone has to go through directly or indirectly, but this is a very challenging and difficult time.

“However, in everything, we give God praise. He said when good happens, we should praise Him so as when evil happens. It hasn’t been easy. But we are doing all we can to make sure that what we believe in is achieved.”

Kanu said they would miss their parents in so many ways, including their parental advice, food and even their disagreements to agree on issues, which he said, were always moments of joy instead of bitterness for the family.

He said: “We are going to miss everything about them, there is the parental advice; the way they make us laugh all the time. You need to see my mother and my father disagree with each other.

“When you see them sit down and iron out their differences, of course, it makes us laugh. They agree in everything, sometimes they disagree as well.

What you may not want to say about any situation, my mother will stand bold to say it without giving a damn to whatever happens, that’s who she is. She is a fearless woman, very fearless, indeed”.

Kanu, who equally added that they would miss their parent’s support for Biafra, stressed that they were pillars to the struggle. However, he stated that wherever they may be today, their wish would be for them to see Biafra realised.

He stressed that they, their children and Biafrans alike, know the dream was alive and were doing whatever they could to achieve it without minding whatever opposition on the way.

Breaking: Nnamdi Kanu's Father Is Also Dead

IPOB PRESS RELEASE
 6/12/2019

We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to console the family our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the entire Kanu family and the community of Afaraukwu over the passing  of their father, uncle, brother and traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Eze Sir Israel Okwu Kanu the Egwu Ukwu II of Afaraukwu who joined his ancestors as a result of health complications arising from the trauma of the invasion of his palace by Nigerian soldiers on September 14, 2017 and most recently over the  shock of the sudden death of his wife Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Okwu Kanu.

We are left in no doubt the military attack on Isiama Afaraukwu and the Kanu family by the armed forces of the Federal Government of Nigeria is the principal cause of death of our leader's parents. We confidently state, without fear of contradiction, that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have also sacrificed his parents in pursuit of freedom for the people of Biafra. There is no greater act of devotion to a noble cause than this.

Rather than weaken or diminish our resolve to restore Biafra, the passing of our leader's parents will infuse us with a greater sense of determination because only by accomplishing the liberation of Biafra will we truly mourn them.

We are asking Almighty God Chukwu Okike Abiama to grant the family, friends, lovers of freedom, Afaraukwu Eze-in-Council and entire community the fortitude to bear the great loss and vacuum the passing of His Majesty has created in our midst.

Fani Kayode in his statement laid curse on those who may have led the murderous act against innocent civilains says, ‘God Will Judge them’

Speaking further, he called for peace and restraint from all sides.

Femi Fani-Kayode Wrote below:

I was in Orafite, Anambra state yesterday with my friend, lawyer and brother Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor who happens to be Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer as well.

This morning as I was about to enter the Federal High Court in Lagos I received a phone call from him and he told me that his Orafite home had been stormed by the police.

He said a total of 4 people, including the young man that led me to his home from the traditional rulers palace had been killed and that his family were badly brutalised and traumatised.

Ifeanyi buried his brother just four days ago, his family are still mourning and now this! May God judge those behind it!

Since the call he made to me this morning no-one, including his wife and children, have seen or heard from him. I pray he is safe and well. I was told that two policemen were also killed during the course of the raid. I call for peace and restraint from all sides.

The shedding of innocent blood is a great evil and I wholeheartedly condemn it. It is a terrible thing that has drastic, long-term and calamitious consequences for those that indulge in it and those that live and rule by it.

May the souls of all those that were killed this morning rest in peace and may God restore sanity and respect for human life to our country.

Those that rule by tyranny, brutality and the power of the gun shall not prevail.
