Every indication arising from the deafening silence of the world over the callous activities of the Nigerian army in the event of 14th September 2017, is suggestive of complicity by the International community. On that fateful day, a battalion of Nigerian army, backed by tanks and aerial surveillance, under presidential instructions, invaded the palace of His Royal Majesty (HRM), Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu of Afara-ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia in Abia State Nigeria. Also touched was the residence of his son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the supreme leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide. Besides a number of Biafrans gruesomely killed, maimed and arrested, amidst other degrees of destruction of properties as recorded, His Royal Majesty, his wife and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu himself were all captured, whisked away to an unknown destination and eversince then, have remained incommunicado in secretive captivity of the Nigerian government.
What really does the global community want the Biafran people to do? Where then lies the conscience of humanity as President Muhammadu Buhari and his officials continue to wine and dine with world leaders in the face of these atrocities carried out against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his parents by the governments of the United Nations, European Union, African Union, United States of America, United Kingdom, Russia amongst others, really living up to their responsibilities to Biafrans who are part of the global community?
For over nine months running now, the captivity of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the hands of the Nigerian army under government's bid to emasculate Biafrans in their resilient quest for independence, has gravely exposed the complicit silence of the world on the matter. This is clearly indicative of the world leaders endorsement for another devastating arms conflict in Africa, as a result of the disappearance and continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his parents. The shameless, blunt and repeated denials of the Nigerian government not to know the whereabouts of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, supposed to have jolted the world community into actions against Nigeria. This is the time the United Nations, European Union, African Union, the United States of America, United Kingdom, Israel and Russia, should compel the Nigerian government to abide by the tenets of International laws governing human rights and dignity. Nigeria should be pressured to immediately release Nnamdi Kanu and his parents from military custody haven spent quite a time in unjust detention. The world must realize that the traditional ruler of Afara-ukwu, Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia State, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu (Ome Udo), the father of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is over 70 years of age. Keeping such a monarch incommunicado, probably in an underground custody of the Nigerian army without access to medication, is tantamount to intentional, gradual death sentence against the aged monarch.
