Ortom: No available land in Benue for Ranching program

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has stated no part of Benue land is available for the Federal Government’s proposed ranching programme.

Ortom rather urged those interested by cattle enterprise to embrace ranching that is a line with the Anti-Open Prohibition Law surpassed through the House of Assembly.
The governor, who spoke at the Government House in Makurdi even as inaugurating chairmen and members of Government Agencies, said any land to be leased out must be consistent with the Anti-Open Grazing Law.

He stated: “The plan is a part of developing cattle colonies to seize our land and give it out for grazing. But we say no; ranching is the first-rate practice for animal husbandry.”
The governor reiterated his calls for restructuring and nation police so that the kingdom government can stop invaders from Libya or anywhere.

“I’m an endorse of kingdom police and there is want for restructuring so that we will stop invaders from entering the state to kill us, whether they're from Libya of anywhere,” he added.

Ortom additionally commiserated together with his Plateau State counterpart, Simon Lalong and the humans,  describing the assaults as barbaric, inhuman and unfortunate.
