German automaker BMW and the China-based Brilliance Auto Group have agreed to expand their joint venture in a bid to boost production and manufacture the electric SUV BMW iX3.

According to a long-term framework agreement signed on Monday in Berlin, the two car makers will continue to invest in their BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture and begin exploring third-party markets together, QQ reports.

The joint venture will also become a platform for China and Germany to promote the integrative development of their respective manufacturing and industrial upgrades, according to the agreement.
