FG partners with WhatsApp, Facebook, Google and others to Combat fake news and lies - lai Muhammed

The  Federal government  has joined essential technology agencies, along with Google, facebook, WhatsApp, others, to installation sources and technology to combat fake information and lies. The Minister of information Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this briefing and stakeholders assembly with online publishers/social media influencers at the nation wide  campaign against fake  news  and lies in  Lagos.

He said: “The struggle against fake news and lies is a need  to-win. As a multi-ethnic, multi-non secular state, Nigeria can not find the money for an unbridled unfold of fake information. This phenomenon is exploiting our fault strains to aggravate the crises in the united states of america.

“Allow me repeat what I stated on the release of this campaign: The Federal government will not use coercion or engage in censorship a good way to combat the fake news and lies  epidemic. We additionally agree with there are enough legal guidelines in our books to combat this phenomenon.
“We are, therefore, attractive to you and all Nigerians to enroll in us in preventing this scourge. Fortunately, we are not alone on this combat. The large technology companies – Google, fb, WhatsApp, etc – are deploying assets and era against the scourge.

“Nations of the world and international organizations are taking steps against fake information and lies. Worldwide  media companies are not left at the back. Allow us to do our own element in tackling this scourge.

“The campaign is even more urgent now, in view of the position of faux information in nerve-racking the diverse crises inside the nation as well as the want to check this phenomenon ahead of the 2019 elections.
