The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Saturday alleged that the federal government had been planning to re-arrest four of its members who were recently granted by after three years of being in prison.
The IPOB, a separatist movement pushing the Republic of Nigeria, noted that it uncovered the plot by the Nigeria Armed Forces (NAF) to invade the South-east and some part of South-south again
In a statement its Media & Publicity Secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful issued yesterday, the group alleged that the plot was geared towards intimidating the people out of pressing for the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The statement, also, alleged that Kanu was whisked away by security operatives on September 14, 2017, after invading the country home of the IPOB leader, Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia in Abia State.
The statement said the plot “is already at advanced stages for another possible military invasion of the South-east and parts of South-south.
“We envisage another extra-judicial murderous attack on the homes of Kanu’s co-defendants that were only recently granted bail after spending three years in prison custody for a crime that does not yet exist.
It noted that Kanu’s co-defendants “are Benjamin Madubugwu, Bright Chimezie, David Nwawuisi and Chidiebere Onwudiwe, whom a court of competent jurisdiction recently granted bail, more than one year after Kanu was released the detention.
The statement condemned the federal government’s plot “to re-arrest Kanu’s co-defendants. It is needless because Justice Binta Nyako has banned any form of threat or invasion of Kanu’s co-defendants homes.
“Justice Nyako gave the order pursuant to an application counsels to Kanu’s co-defendants made before the court. The judge ordered that no security personnel in the country should disturb or disrupt their peace.
“We continue to demand that the military produce Nnamdi Kanu wherever he is being kept. The federal government of Nigeria is yet to formally respond to numerous queries from British government demanding an explanation on the whereabouts of their citizen.
“The Nigerian army’s involvement in the invasion and massacre of defenceless and unarmed members of IPOB present in Afaraukwu on September 14, 2017 is the irreducible and constant critical point of reference in any discussions regarding the whereabouts of Kanu.
“It is a matter of common knowledge, backed by quantum and incontrovertible photographic and video evidence, that the murderous military invasion of Kanu’s home and his abduction therein by the invading soldiers was an occurrence which the international community and responsible human rights bodies, such as Amnesty International had severally indicted the Nigeria Armed Forces.
