This is Ken Saro-Wiwa's last statement, 25 years after he helped Nigeria to defeat Biafra, before he was sentenced to death by Justice Ibrahim Auta, a fulani Judge appointed by a Fulani dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha:
"There's no possibility that I or MOSOP would ever have planned any such actions (killing of 4 Ogoni elders). And I will forever vow it no matter what any forum decides upon. I appeal to you, My Lord for only ONE thing.
The Ogoni people have SUFFERED TREMENDOUSLY in this country. The Niger Delta itself is in SERIOUS TROUBLE. We need every assistance we can get."
- Saro-Wiwa (31st Oct., 1995).
.
Instead of getting the needed assistance, the Abacha govt quickly approved Justice Auta’s verdict to execute Saro-Wiwa and eight others 10 days after, even before the period for an appeal had elapsed.
.
Two hours before his execution, the late environmental activist said:
"I never destroyed my people, but my people are killed. If it be that I can die to free my people, pls my God and the gods and soil of Ogoni Land, allow me to die!"
- Saro-Wiwa (10th Nov, 1995).
.
They were executed, and their bodies drenched with acid to obligate any form of existence and dumped at a grave yard in PH. 16 years after, in 2011, a motion sponsored by Senator Lee Maeba to immortalize the late activists was rejected by a DEMOCRATIC 'One Nigerian Senate' and his attempt to call for a minute of silence to honor Mr. Saro-Wiwa was angrily shot down by the senate president, David Mark.
In 2015 again, an attempt by some Niger Deltans to import equipment they'll use in celebrating Wiwa's 20th anniversary was seized by the current CG of customs, Col. Ali, who icidentally was a member of the kangaroo tribunal that killed Saro Wiwa.
.
Joseph Daudu (SAN), a Yoruba, was the government's prosecution lawyer. However Wiwa's defense lawyers were Gani Fawehinmi (a Yoruba I respect so much), Olisa Agbakoba (an Igbo that recently supported Kanu) and Femi Falana.
.
Today the late Ken Saro Wiwa will be turning in his grave seeing that his people are still making the same mistake he made many years ago in supporting the Fulani's-One Nigeria against the Igbos wish to break up because of their Igbophobia. But none of this is my headache; I'm only trying to put the record straight.
.
REMEMBER THAT ONLY #BIAFRA CAN SAVE us, make no mistake about that.
