The deplorable state of Aba to Port Harcourt expressway
The state of Aba to Port Harcourt expressway is typically what is defined as “Death Trap”, or can be described as a Nightmare to travellers plying the road on a daily basis.
From Aba to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, is a journey of 45 minutes and on a normal day, motorist charge the sum of 300-500 depending on someones destination as Transport fare – But of recent, reverse is the case as motorist charges passengers the sum of N1000-N1500 per each person.
The road has been in a deplorable state over the years, starting from the past administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Although, the APC led federal government have claimed to have started work on the said road from Enugu, but the work as one may see is at the speed of snail.
Coming to Aba or going to Port Harcourt, one has to get up early in other to get to his/her destination on time.
The situation has caused a lot of business stagnation as many buyers and traders, especially those coming to Ariaria International Market, Aba – has decided to boycott the road, but is there any alternative route?
