The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the shift in the presidential and National Assembly elections, earlier scheduled for today, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, said the unexpected postponement was premeditated to enable President Muhammadu cling to power against the wishes of Nigerians.
Secondus, in a statement by his media aide, Ike Abonyi, described the postponement as part of an alleged grand plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to thwart the will of the people.
While stating that the postponement has exposed the failures of the electoral body, the PDP leader called on INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu to resign immediately.
“With several of their rigging options failing, they have to force INEC to agree to a shift in the election or a staggered election with flimsy excuses pre-manufactured for the purpose.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP sees this action as wicked and we are also aware of other dubious designs, like the deployment of hooded security operatives who would be ruthless to the people, ostensibly to scare them away,” Secondus stated.
