MASTER REPORTERS GLOBAL NEWS...

Reports by Premium Times Exclusive, the Nigeria President, Mohammadu Buhari is set to proscribe the protesting members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria also know as Shiites.

The report, which pointed its source through “security and administration”, said the proscription will come in form of executive order.

Recall, Justice Kafarati had on September 20, 2017, made order proscribing IPOB and designating it as a terrorist group upon an ex parte application by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN).

The expected prescription of IMN is coming barely 12 hours after the group held a peaceful protest in Abuja for the release of its leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, but clashed with Nigeria security agents.

The security operatives, according to report, bared the protesting group from gaining entrance to House of Assembly complex.

Casualties recorded from the clash, according to reports, has increased 17, including demise of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Umar Bellel (who has been laid to rest, according to Islamic rites), National Youth Service Corps member, Precious Owolabi, and over 15 Shia members.

Mr El-Zakzaky was arrested following an invasion of his residence in Zaria, northern Nigeria, between December 12-14, 2015.

Despite call by various organizations, urged the President Mohammadu Buhari led administration to declare Fulani Herdsmen Terrorist Group following destruction of lives and properties in various part of the country, the President insisted the rampaging group is innocent.

The presidential spokesman disclosed this while speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

While defending the government’s decision to tag separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as terrorists, Shehu said herdsmen have only been involved in criminal activity that has not threatened the country’s sovereignty.

He said, “There is a difference between a criminal activity and a terrorist activity. Yes, some Fulani herdsmen are a criminal gang and they are being dealt with according to the law, but IPOB, like Boko Haram, has a territory they have carved out to themselves as a sovereign state.

“They have shown the willingness to invade other neighbouring states. They have raised concerns in neighbouring Kogi and Benue states. They have said they are interested in taking over Bayelsa and Rivers.
