Insulting Leaders Through Social Media Shows Lack Of Parental Upbringing - Emmanuel Udom

- Governor Udom Emmanuel is concerned about the misconduct of some youths on social media - The governor is not happy that some young ones are using social media to abuse elders and those in leadership positions - The governor stated that the action of the youths involved is a result of poor upbringing Governor Udom Emmanuel has frowned at the habit of some Akwa Ibom youths using social media platforms to insult people in leadership positions.

According to the governor, the unruly behaviour by the culprits is a result of poor upbringing. The governor made the statement while addressing a church congregation in the state capital, Uyo on Sunday, October 13. He urged parents to put efforts into ensuring that their children are raised in a way that pleases the almighty God. Governor Emmanuel further said the consequences of not paying attention to children brings about youth restiveness, deviance, and lawlessness experienced in society.






“If you have lived up to your responsibility to your children, my job would have been fifty% done, because it is the attitude of every single child that will determine the level that child can go to,” the governor told his audience. He urged children in Akwa Ibom to be respectful to constituted authorities, their parents as well as elders in the society He noted that if Christians live by God's words, society would be much better and attract blessings from God.

Governor Emmanuel recently presented a budget proposal to the state House of Assembly which places emphasis on education, industrialization and poverty reduction. The document is predicated on the policy thrust of the Udom administration, to gradually metamorphose Akwa Ibom's civil service status, to a largely private-sector driven state.
