ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Despite measures by the Iraqi government, including shutting down all social media and internet services, protesters continue to storm streets in several areas of southern Iraq demanding better public services and employment.
On Saturday, protests continued in Najaf, Missan, Babil, Dhi Qar, Karbala, and Najaf for the sixth consecutive day.
The Iraqi government has taken some measures to crackdown on demonstrators, including shutting down access to social media and internet services in southern and central Iraq.
Two protesters died of their injuries after being wounded by Iraqi security forces in the city of Ammara, in Missan Province.
In Najaf, security forces imposed a curfew in the province.
Meanwhile, in Basra Province, more Iraqi forces, including an armored division, was deployed to the city to disperse the protests.
